Consortium

KNow-ME comprises a total of 11 partners: 10 research institutions and 1 SME consultancy, from six European Member States.

Three of the partners carry out horizontal activities:

  • The Transport Research Institute (TRI) at Edinburgh Napier University, who have extensive experience in this role, are co-ordinating and managing the project;

  • TRI also coordinate the network development using their extensive experience in leading research networks, e.g. the Northern Maritime University project;

  • DSN, who are organising the dissemination activities and development of the e-portal;

  • University of Applied Sciences, Bremen (BR-UAS), who have a vast network of contacts in the maritime industry are coordinating the content development of the e-portal.

Nine partners have specific lead roles for different key issues in the project:

  • Jacobs University (JACOBS) is the lead research in maritime policy areas, training needs assessment and outreach strategy development for young people;

  • Gothenburg Univeristy (GU) is the lead in image and awareness evaluation and strategy;

  • Chalmers University (CU) has the lead in recruitment and manning and gender issues. They also have key knowledge in policy and practices across Europe and career management;

  • University of Applied Sciences, Luebeck (LUAS) has the lead for all e-learning content;

  • University of the Aegean (AEGEAN) has the lead for career management and multi-cultural issues;

  • TRI has extensive experience in developing, building and moderating networks between industry and education and training institutes;

  • Institute of Transport and Maritime Management Antwerp, Univeristy of Antwerp (ITMMA), has a leading role in European policy and practice research;

  • Swedish Environmental Institute (IVL) in particular deals with the sustainability of shipping and environmental topics;

  • Molde University College (MOLDE) has the lead for integrating logistics aspects into training and education strategies for the maritime industry.

All partners are key players in their industry relations at national and international level.
